If you enjoy a good mystery, I highly recommend Death in a Fair Place. The plot is well-constructed, the pace is lively, and the characters are realistic and approachable. The story takes place in an upscale, private school in Marin County and the author is obviously very familiar with this type of setting. I like how he begins the story with a brief history of the school, including a detailed map of this fictitious location. As the protagonist, detective Bill Felkin, sets out to investigate an on-campus homicide, he takes the reader along with him. It is a delightful and entertaining trip.Product details

I loved this book. The characters are likable and relatable. It was an easy read that I did not want to put down and was sad when it was finished.
This was a very entertaining mystery set in the cloistered world of academia written by a private school insider. The story is fast paced, and the characters in this privileged group are well developed, flaws included. The ending is shocking yet believable. For anyone who wants to understand the inner workings and politics of a private school with a shadowy twist, this is a great read.
As a first novel, I was very impressed by this fun novel. The fact that the author provides the school's background and a map to trace the action as well as a timeline kept this reader engaged.! The pace is great as the author continues to drop all kinds of crumbs along the path that keep one guessing. It's a fantastic summer read !
This book is awesome. If you like a fast pace "page turner" that you can't put down, you'll love reading this. I really liked how the author painted the scenes; you felt like you were there. Can't wait to read the next one!!! sp
